    Description

The Grumman F3F-1 was produced in the mid to late 1930's. The F3F-1, F3F-2 and F3F-3 belonged to what was likely the most colorful era in the United States military aviation history. The F3F had a wide fuselage to accommodate the large radial engine and a two-blade Hamilton Standard propeller. The plane had improved retractable landing gear and a longer fuselage. The F3F was the Navy's last bi-plane. The last F3F was retired by the United States Navy in November of 1943.
The US Navy took possession of the first of fifty-four F3F-1 aircraft in January of 1936. They were dispersed between the fighter squadrons aboard the USS Saratoga (CV-3), and the USS Ranger (CV-4). One of the Saratoga squadrons was VF-3 whose commanding officer was Jimmy Thach and well known pilot Butch O'Hare, who the Chicago airport is named after.
This 1:48 die-cast scale Hobby Master reproduction of the Grumman F3F-1 is a colorful, very rare, highly detailed version of the F3F-1 aircraft. It comes with a highly detailed engine, realistic wing guide wires, pilot figure, underwing bombs, sliding canopy, and undercarriage. All sales are final. Shipping to the USA only.
PLEASE NOTE: The model is a display model but is like new. It was displayed in an airtight display case. The model does NOT have the retracted landing gear, does NOT have a box and does NOT have a display stand. You are purchasing what is shown in the photographs. It will be packaged for shipment with extra care. This is a very difficult to find model at this price. This is the only one available.
