Handmade wood carving made by "Master Craftsmen".  This is a beautiful museum quality model. The box is a little damaged from shipping labels and the lid is coming apart, but the foam inside will keep the model very safely stored.

The Showcase model plane inside is a highly valued piece of art.  It was handcarved by a very skilled woodcarver while adhering closely to the aircraft's engineering specifications and shapes.  Showcase is the earliest recognized professional wood model maker to be granted Manufacturing Licensee status by almost all of the aircraft manufactureres and airlines in the United States.  This goes all the way back to the '90s; to this day showcase may still be the only wood model plane builder with this status in the Far East.  If the model plane is not licensed, chances are it is illegal.
Our model makers were trained and approved to exacting requirements of the engineers of US aircraft and airline industries.  We continue to count these firms as customers for Showcase models.  Long time customers include the military establishment, NASA, various aviation museums and other discriminating collectors.  This model product you are viewing is a much decorated veteran of many quality control battles.
"Is it wood or plastic?" The smooth carving and painstaking automotive finish of the model never fails to prompt this question.  The model is carved from lumber harvested from renewable forests.  Its elegant and durable package is 80% made from recycled materials.
You will treasure this model made by wood artisans who were originally urged to make these models by the sons and daughters of America who were stationed or passed by the Clark Air Force Base during the Vietnam era.

B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay": On August 6, 1945, the B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay" dropped the world's first atomic bomb, codenamed "Little Boy", in Hiroshima, Japan.  It was this crucial act that made the Japanese surrender in World War II.  Col. Paul Tibbets was responsible for organizing and spearheading the world's first nuclear strike force.  This historic aircraft was named after Enola Gay Tibbets, the pilot's mother.
