NIB Gunther Xantos Rubberband-Powered Airplane

There are lots of "toy" airplanes out there, but the Gunther Xantos is one of the few that falls under the category of "pre-assembled model airplane". It's incredibly well designed and flies more like a handmade balsa plane than an out-of-the-box aircraft. The plane's power-to-weight ratio is out of this world even for a model airplane and flights of half a minute and over 100 yards are well within its scope.
Construction:
The basis of the airplane is its wing structure, which is framed with soldered spring steel. It's then covered with a lightweight, aerodynamic material that's heat welded at the edges. The fuselage is hollow plastic that's flexible to absorb landings, whether planned or ill-advised. The rubber band is actually a flat, all-weather cloth and elastic band that's overlapped and looped inside the fuselage. It can handle 300 or more winding rotations and delivers power smoothly with a long spin-out. The rubber band is connected to a huge 10-1/2" propeller mounted on a brass bearing.
