    Description

    Original Period Made
    Trench Art Aircraft Model
    German Triplane Fighter Dr.1 Fokker
    WW I
    Desk & Shelf Airplane Model
    Dear customers,
This time I have the honor to offer you an authentic, perfectly preserved, professionally made, astonishingly accurate and
    extremely rare
    item - a
    Desk Airplane Model
with great historical and collectible value.
This model was a part of the interwar (interbelum 1918-1941) collection of Lieutenant Vladimir King  (Поручник  Владимир Кинг ) pilot of the Royal Yugoslav Army Air Force, Croat by nationality, who temporarily lived, in rented apartment, in Skopje (now the capital of Macedonia) and served as a fighter pilot from 1938, until his death on 6th of April 1941. He was killed in an air battle against Luftwaffe over Kumanovo on the very first day of the April War (aggression of the Axis Powers against the Kingdom of Yugoslavia).
I use this opportunity to mark the 80th anniversary of his death, April 1941 - April 2021 and pay some tribute for his bravery.
After his death, personal belongings (some civilian clothes, uniforms and personal items) were packed in two boxes and stored in the basement.  No one came, more than thirty years, to pick them up! I bought boxes in early the 80s from the owner of the apartment. Among other things, carefully packed, was the collection of aircraft models.
    Lieutenant Vladimir Kink collection
contained more than 20 unique handmade military aircraft, some WWI trench art models, made of different materials such as wood, aluminum, bronze, brass...! All, without exception, perfectly preserved, and some even in the original packaging and transport boxes as stored or transported by the first owners. Stunning...!
Now I would like to keep the attention of the model offered at this auction! It is a particular World War I airplane model - Fokker Dr.1, probably made by a German or Austro-Hungarian Air Force personnel during World War I.
The model is perfectly accurate, proportional, made and painted by a very skilled artisan/s who knew the plane in detail. The model and stand are made of different materials like solid walnut wood, plywood, brass tin, brass wire, connected with small iron, brass and wooden nails (spikes). There are no  modern glues or paints at all. The model is painted with oil colors, in the standard camouflage Western Front 1917 pattern for Fokker Dr.1.
Small, period made with oil colors,
    corrections
    are visible
    on the airplane model markings.
The base (model stand) is made of solid carved walnut wood and painted with oil colors. On the side of the square model stand with oil colors is a painted stylized German flying badge.
Brass rod connects the model and the base.
The propeller and the wheels rotate, as well as the whole plane around the base.
To be honest I'm not quite sure what the exact purpose of this Museum Quality World War I  Model of German Fighter Aircraft  Fokker Dr.1...?!? Maybe just a Desk Decorations… or maybe  Pilot Tactical Movement Practice Aircraft Model (training with models in the tactical pilot practice, developing skills of the joint piloting, group flight and aerial combat tactics are used in all WW I flight military units)... or WW I Recognition Aircraft Model (recognition models of aircraft in WWI are made at the field airport workshops)... or Trench Art Aircraft Model...?
In my opinion, this model also may have been made after World War I for some occasion, for 10th  or 20th anniversary of the WW I, because many skilled airmen, aviation carpenter, aviation/weapons technicians, German, Austrian, Hungarian, Bosnian, Slovenian and Croats, who served during the Great War in German or Austro-Hungarian Air Force after war  continued to served in the Royal Yugoslav Air Force.
And they knew this aircraft very well... !
